Art on a Shelf: Ore no Ryomi 3 (part 3)

Tis bittersweet that we come to this, the final entry in the Art on a Shelf: Ore no Ryomi 3 series. I know everyone will miss it as much as I will. Days will be spent weeping in the corner, knowing it will never again grace this blog. Cheer up, though, because we need to send it off with a smile!

Today I’ll be showing some never-before-seen screens of “Character Challenges”; a feature of Ore no Ryomi 3 that was all new.

Character ChallengesCharacter Challenges, if you haven’t figured it out by now based on the clever name that describes it exactly, were special challenges presented by unique characters that would come into your restaurant. In the image above, we see poor Allison R. as she attempts to get control of her after school charges. She needs your help!

And here is the challenge itself. You can quiet the kids by producing 20 perfect order ice cream cones in a minute. The number of cones and time were actually placeholders, as we didn’t know at the time what would be possible to make in just 60 seconds. Still, the concept is clear. Accept and succeed and you would be rewarded with a Character Recipe: A dish that could ONLY be learned by completing one of these random Character Challenges. Character Recipes were planned to be unique and very profitable, since they required more than just cash to obtain them. Of course, you could also decline the offer, or fail it, and then the wait would begin for it to pop up again some day in the future. Who knows when. Could be tomorrow, could be in seven years. That’s why Character Challenges would get your heart-rate up, knowing if you failed one you might be out a special bonus that wouldn’t be available for a long while.

Finally, here’s a concept for a variation on the dish cleaning.

Look familiar? It was based on the idea behind the 안전한 카지노사이트 firefight mini game in OnR2, but you would have to scrub in a circle using the arrow keys. One problem (or handy cheat, depending on who you ask) with the firefight mini game was that you could mash the arrows like a five year old who just consumed a box of sugar cookies and still manage to win. There was no penalty for hitting the correct arrow. With the concept above, you actually had to try, since the arrows weren’t just random.

Oh dear, it seems I’ve come to the end of this blog entry. The tears are welling in my eyes. I hope you enjoyed this look behind the scenes of the canceled Ore No Ryomi 3: King of All Cooks. I had a blast being your guide through the now shelved art. And who knows? Perhaps one day I will once again join with Chubs and begin a project only to have it end prematurely so I can show you even more artwork that will never be used!

Though now that I think about it, it might be more useful if that hypothetical project was actually completed so you could play it… Well, either way, you never know! 🙂
