I’ve just submitted my second competition game ever, called greenTech. It’s now available to play on YoYogames.com, and since they’re judging based on the game AND the number of plays it gets, please please please play this game.<\/a> \ud83d\ude42

\nThis game was an absolute blast to make. It was so liberating, not having to worry about particle effects, etc. It was just pure gameplay from the start to finish. What a fun thing that is.<\/p>\n

\nThe game actually started early last month, when a friend of mine suggested I try a tower defense like game. Sounded fun, so I tried it. It had the same graphical style of greenTech with some changes…you could build facilities, turn factories into green energy plants, etc. You just couldn’t control the wind or clouds. You also had to watch out for water pollution, etc.

\nThe result was not fun. The game simply broke down to build-as-many-units-as-possible and do nothing while you wait for additional funds. I tried to think of different ways to do the tower defense game successfully using the style I had, but no luck. I was running out of time.

\nFinally, last week I gave up and decided to try something original, but simple. During that time, I stumbled upon some discussions about non Gamstop casinos<\/a> and how they offer unique gaming experiences outside traditional platforms. This gave me the inspiration I needed, and I finally got the idea for greenTech. In just a week’s time, I was able to get the finished game out in time for the competition. It took about 60+ hours to complete, which is just an insane amount of time to finish a game. But I’m really happy with the finished product. Woo!
