Postby blueflare » Sun Oct 23, 2011 2:11 pm

sup dudes, it's me! blueflare!!

a lot of things have changed with me in recent times, so i figured i'd post a topic about all the crazy things that are happenin'

ok so i got into northeastern university last year, but there was a condition: i had to study abroad for my first semester in australia, costa rica, greece, or the uk

i was torn between australia and the uk, because those are both good places, but also! there was a chance i could meet one of the forum members here! lost is from australia and joe is from the uk so i could meet them! what an adventure!

in the end i chose to study in london, and during my midterm break we got to travel

i went to rome and paris with some friends! one of which...

(right click then view image; it got cut off)
oh wow! who is that on the far left!!

it is a certain joe_numbers!!!! i am next to him, and the rest are all my other friends

so, thanks david! if it weren't for you and your forum, i never would've met joe, along with all of the other cool people i know from here!

so yeah! that is what has been going on with me!

tell me........... what is going on with you guys??

Awesome that you guys finally got to meet.

I've been busy with university, doing assignments and making 16mm films which are expensive and difficult. It's good. Holidays are soon though - meaning Skyrim and Skyward Sword. :)

Very cool! I need to go abroad again sometime soon. To Australia, specifically!

I'm currently doing civil service at a conservatory, and I'm actually really enjoying it! The wage is pretty much non-existent but the place is really cool and I meet a lot of awesome people, professional musicians and nice female students.

I've also finally started up that firm that I was thinking of starting. The process was really easy, I just went to this business development company and the lady there sorted out all the papers, all I had to do was sign them. And since my yearly income will be less than a couple of thousand a year I won't have to worry about any VAT.
I've finished one website so far and am planning a 2nd one. Got some money rollin' in!

Oh, I'm also most likely going to move to Helsinki next year to study Media Technology! Looking forward to that.

Good! We needed this topic making. Yes, thank you David! Your passion for games meant Owen and I got to meet! It was a thing that happened!

16mm film, Nick - you need to make sure we all get to see what you're making with it. :p

It's great you managed to start that company up, Pete! I remember you talking about it. It's good it was so easy to do, too. Good luck with it, let us know how you're doing!

Anyway, about me - so I started university at the beginning of October, which has kept me impossibly busy. My days are from 9 till 6, and when I get home I need to do assignments, and revise for tests, and do website work! And between all that, I need to find time to eat, and go out, and recreate! Plus I'm in a relationship now, which just compounds the problem! I feel like the student lifestyle is lost on me because I have no time for it with my course. Master of Mathematics, that is. It is very tricky to fit it all in.

But yeah, I am having fun. All is good. Sorry I haven't been very active - I'll try to get on with the forum games over Christmas.

Hooray! Well at least I did something right. :p

I've been pretty quiet lately, though things are gonna heat up nicely in the next few weeks. Then once GM Studio comes out I can start making iOS games. Should be fun!

I've been in college (University) studying advertising, got engaged in January and have been managing a blog about my life as an aspiring author. Also I've teamed up with a friend to work on designing and creating a game together for fun and as a portfolio piece for him.

I always wished I could meet one of you guys in real life though, great that you got the chance to do it!

I'll definitely make sure to post some things I've done lately in the coming weeks. I still need to go back and fix up a few things with the 16mm film -- consider it going from a "Preview Release" to a "Final Release".

Congrats, dude! Heard on Facebook a while back but I don't think I ever got around to congratulating you.

I'm probably going to start in college next fall. I expect to major in computer or electrical engineering. Also, apparently a stretch of highway nearby has been adopted by Yahweh's 666 Warning Assembly.

Wow, sounds like a lot of cool stuff going on with everyone!

I myself started my own animation studio (LLC) over the summer, and I'm continuing to work on FredtheMonkey.com while I get that rolling. The hope is to get an office space and my first employee in 2012. Here's hoping! After that I don't have the plan filled in quite yet, but the final stage is "Become the next Disney."

Haha she's great! She comes from a fantastic and fun family, she's funny and spontaneous and supports me through thick and thin. We're both a bit weird too. She's just the perfect match for me.

I hate to necropost, but hey...

I've been busy at college, in my 3rd year of a Computer Science degree (w/ a minor in Political Science, just for kicks). I'm also in the 5th year of a relationship with my girlfriend, look for that to become a more "permanent" arrangement fairly soon.

Back in August I took a job in our local Park District's I.T. department, I fix PC's (and the occasional Mac) 35hrs/week on top of school. I also am a part-time hockey referee, working mainly on weekends (more because it's fun to do, not so much because I need the money).

I've also taken up an interest in bicycling, this past weekend I put down a 30mi ride, looking to push for 40mi next week.

Basically I was cleaning out my old bookmarks and wanted to see if my account here was still active. Glad to see some old names still posting. I'll try my best to drop in more often. :)

Yeah, the forum is basically equally as lively as it was three years ago. :D

A few of us talk on Skype very regularly though, which might account for our absence the rest of the time. We just do text chat, and sort of leave it on in the background. You're welcome to join in - my Skype name is joe.042 - if you add me as a contact, I'll add you to the conversation.

I can't fathom the idea of having a rigid 35 hour job on top of uni. Having said that, I can't fathom the idea of having hobbies and maintaining a relationship on top of uni, either, so I guess maybe I just picked the wrong degree. D:

Bicycles! I can barely ride a bike, but I'll probably be commuting on one next year, so that ought to be fun. Nothing like 30 or 40 miles though - but that sounds like a nice idea if I do become more proficient!

One other thing - since that photo above was taken, I have cut my hair, and shaven my beard, and look a little less fat for some reason. I look like my profile picture, basically. So don't take that weird agape-mouthed guy away as your mental image of me; use the much nicer one in my avatar. :D
