And the launch lineup... I'm going to be so poor. Kid Icarus, TWO Resident Evil games, Pilotwings, Paper Mario, Professor Layton... My poor, poor wallet come March.

Is that stuff the "release window" lineup or "release date" lineup? It seems too good to be the latter.

I don't think they've announced the launch lineup officially yet, but if two or three of those release plus the system itself, I'm still going to be out a LOT of money. :)

I also have an old blocky DS. For being 7 years old it's in pretty good condition except that the L and R buttons don't work. Anyone have any ideas how to fix them? I've only tried blowing the dust out. I don't have a tri-key nor do I want to order one just to open the thing and clean the contacts. I'd rather just buy a new DS.

On the subject of handhelds, my favorite is the Gameboy Advance SP. If only I hadn't bought mine on ebay and gotten one that likes to shut off in the middle of boss battles. But meh, it was cheap. Bought a new battery for it, which didn't help at all. Actually the new battery has trouble charging, but not the old one.

All that being said, I haven't played either in months. I have a Wii now :D And besides I'm more of a PC gamer anyway.

I'm not too interested in the 3DS myself. I'd much rather get a 22'' iZ3D monitor for $250, I'm guessing it would be cheaper. Then I could play all my PC games in 3D and wouldn't have to pay another dime for any of it.

So you want to fix it without disassembling it, and blowing it doesn't work? All that's left is water, fire and magnets, and they're usually not on very good terms with electronics.

True, but a 22" monitor is hard to fit in your pocket. Which is kind of the allure of handheld gaming. You can play in the car, or on the train, or laying down in bed before passing out with the system on your chest.

Yeah, but my days of hard-core gaming are all but over, sadly. Now that I'm out of college and have a job, my life has changed a lot. There's little overlap between time I feel like playing games, and time available to play games. That and the time available to play games is now at an all-time low. Add to this the large backlogs of unread books and unwatched movies I've got, and that's not a good situation during a time when so many great games are on the way. I've played all of 5 missions in StarCraft 2. I have Other M and haven't played much of it. And I just got the Metroid Prime trilogy and barely got started on the Prime 1 before getting re-addicted to RuneScape. So yeah, pretty lame I guess. I'm not much of a gamer anymore, really. In a way I'm sad, but in another way I don't really care. Heck, I haven't even beaten The Oil Blue yet! And I bought it on release day.

Lol, that is true. Doesn't leave any options, really. So I guess the thing is obsolete and I'll just get a new one. After I buy my 3D monitor, of course.

You're preaching to the choir, brother! I'm in the exact same spot. But that's why I love portable gaming so much. I have next to no time to play games anymore what with the real world demanding so much of my time, so I grab a 30 minute chunks of time before bed every night to delve into Professor Layton, Puzzle Quest 2, or Ninja Gaiden. I consider it cool down time before turning out the light, and I'm already in bed so it makes things easy. Of course, it helps that the wife also has a DSL and her own list of games, and honestly most of the time she stays up playing later than I do.

Your wife sounds hardcore.

As for the 3DS, I'm almost certain I'll pick one up on launch. My last handheld was the original GBA. I've been meaning to play through some more GBC/GBA games but the lack of back light is really bothering me. 3DS Virtual Console to the rescue?

LOL! Glad to see I am not alone. I guess 90% of what I do in my spare time (aside from gaming) is reading on forums about other people's gaming, and how much of it they do, so I'd always assumed everyone else does way more gaming than me. I still don't understand how there are people on RuneScape that have skills at 99. I've heard that level 98 on there is only halfway to level 99. And there are people (who obviously have no life) with ALL 23 skills at level 99. I realize that a good deal of RuneScape's playership is young teens, but still...

I suppose things might be different if any of my handhelds were operating at 100%, or if any of the handheld titles I own were ones I haven't already beaten. I've been meaning to fix that by getting Kirby Superstar DS and/or Pokemon HeartGold. (Yes I play Pokemon, I'll admit it  )

Pssh, Pokemon is awesome, don't let anyone else tell you differently.

I'm personally waiting on Black and White. I was really, really tempted to cave and get Soul Silver, but the upgrade (visually and gameplay wise [hopefully]) that Black and White are bringing made me decide to just wait.

On another SUPER AMAZING AWESOME note, Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton CROSSOVER game?!? Someone has been reading my diary! \:D/

^A million times this. So that's what, eight games I want now, plus the system itself? Nintendo is going to be taking all of my money :(

Not sure if anyone watched the conferences last night! I kept switching between the US one with Reggie and the European one with a George Clooney look-a-like.

What we know:
Price:
$249USD

Release Dates:
US: March 27th, 2011
EU: March 25th, 2011

News:
-A Single Friend Code system for a universal account (Friends List can be brought up at any time to see what your friends are playing, etc.) It's still friend codes, but having a single code is a step in the right direction I guess.
-3DS comes in Black and Blue
-Nintendo Points has been replaced with a normal money system
-MP3 support
-Virtual Console for GameBoy and GameBoy Colour Titles
-3DS original downloadable titles
-Preloaded Applications include, 3DS Sound, Mii Maker, PictoChat, Street Pass Mii Plaza, Face Raiders, Download Service, 3DS Camera, AR Games, 3D Videos, System Transfer, Nintendo eShop, Internet Browser, and Activity Log
-Region Locked (fatality.)

Finally, apparently there will be 30 games released during the "launch window", with the launch window being described as between now and E3.

Confirmed my day 1 purchase, even though I have no time to actually play the dang games, lol!

Wish it was $50 cheaper, but ah well, that's just one less game and I can manage that.

Who's getting a 3DS on day-1? I'll probably end up getting one within the first few months, but not on Day-1.
