Neo Terra

Postby UltimateAgent » Sun Dec 07, 2008 3:03 am

Let's just skip the formalities with a story. You crashed your spaceship on a planet. Be happy.

To play, you can do quite a bit. For the most part, you'll want to try to survive on a hostile planet(Neo Terra). To do this, you can do several things in each area(10x10 map):

-Explore
-Move to next area
-Rest
-and any thing you can think of

To win, you can try to escape the planet, or call colonists to inhabit it, or anything else that would result in you NOT GETTING KILLED. Just surviving isn't an option. The planet has an toxic atmosphere that will kill you slowly (around 100 days)

Remember to keep yourself fed! Trying to survive for 100 days without food probably won't work well.

Such an alien environment will strain your mind. Pay attention to your sanity and find things to do that will balance it out. A high sanity rating means your stressed and you may hallucinate, but a low rating means your too calm, and won't react quickly. Stay around the middle.

A healthy person is a safe person. Keep your health up by using herbs and medkits that you may find from your crash.

Each area is different, even though some may be similar.

Remember that just because you search an area once doesn't mean there's nothing more. If you have the extra time, explore some more!

Sometimes you will find objects that are useless by themselves. Combining things together would work well in some cases, or not so well in others.

Objects can be used creatively. Just because you don't have a gun doesn't mean you can attack from a distance.

You may be able to find some friendlies, if they aren't killed before you get to them.

Watch out for the aliens! Some are primal, and will try to rip you apart with their claws, but some have advanced technology that, if you're lucky, you can steal for your own use.

If you don't know what an item does, ask your computer, if you have one yet...

And so, let's begin...

How long would it take to build a small shelter for the night? Explore for a bit, then build one if we don't find anything interesting.

A simple shelter could be built in a very brief time, as such it would not take any hours. Be aware that such a shelter would provide only the absolute minimal protection from weather. And that it would have practically no defensive value. But it would be better than just sitting under a tree. Also be aware that if you build a simple shelter you would not want to stray far from it, otherwise you may never find it again. At least 1 hour must remain of daylight.

HEY! Notrium!! WOO!!
Rest until day. Search for other stuff, preferably a fuel cell and energy converter to make a powered accelerator, combine it with a metal rod to make a shotgun...
Oh, wait, this isn't QUITE Notrium, is it?

In that case, just rest 'till morning and then search the area again.
Also fortify your sheler and add a banner of some sort, so you don't lose it.
If you can find a metal rod or something similar, equip it as a weapon until you can find something better.

I see elements from Metal Gear, Resident Evil and Eternal Darkness.

=O

Anyway, yeah, sleep in the shelter for now.

Indeed. But this game mostly reminds me of Notrium.

-You start with a radio
-You can find a particle accelerator.
-Same, ship-crasy kinda story.
-You find a pile of wood in the beginning, as well.
-You also get a pocket computer.

Hey, UA, what is this game modeled on?

Notrium is a great game. And yes angus, this game is loosely based on Notrium, but some elements are simplified(like the Energy Unit is a singular item, not a Fuel Cell and a Converter). But anyways...

Ooh, this seems fun.

Um, eat a ration, then go north.

Also, before you do either of those things, I have a question about Beacons. Can they be reset? If so, place one in the current area before you eat or go north. If not, just eat and go north.

Traveling at night seems dangerous. Are you sure?

And yes, beacons can be picked up and set somewhere else. They can be used as many times as you want/need.

Game stalled. Awaiting further commands.

Oh, I figured we'd sleep 'till morning. I should pay more attention. :p

Anyhow, eat, then build a more effective shelter.

You don't have the materials to build a Good Shelter. It requiires at least 10 Wood(Effective Shelter=3, so 10-3=7 Wood necessary).

REST/DEFEND
6hr-6hr=0hr
-Fatigue +30
EAT ONE (1) RATION
-Hunger +20

PERSONAL DATA
Health 91/100
Hunger 70/100
Fatigue 80/100
Sanity 56/100

AREA ANALYSIS

Low Risk
Likelihood of Objects: Extremely low
Vegetation: Jungle

ImageRadio x1
ImageRation x5
ImageMedkit x1
ImageWood x2
ImagePistol(broken) x1
ImageParticle Accelerator(broken) x1

Dawn has come.
Day 3
I have been here for two days. I managed to build a shelter that will protect me from at least some of the weather, and it would do well against attackers. I plan to explore neighboring areas soon. I must find something to act as a more effective weapon than a simple piece of wood. If I could find an Energy Unit, I can build a pistol, but I'm afraid I may have exhausted all resources in this area. This planet appears to have an odd orbit and rotation. Daylight is getting longer...
Hours of daylight remaining: 7
What do you do?
-Explore (1hr-7hr)
-Move to next area (2hr)
-Other(specify)

No hostile noises
Cloud cover heavy, thunder heard getting closer
Temperature comfortable
-Certain actions take less time.
