Interesting Bug in Vivid Conceptions

Postby tfullwood » Fri Nov 28, 2008 8:48 pm

I've found a strange bug in Vivid Conceptions: When I first startted it, I was waiting and playing around with the Start menu when I found that the game was running, with the Start menu over it. This also happened the second time I started it. But the third time, there was an error and it wouldn't start. Apparently, it only works (for me at least) when it the Start Menu is over it until the main menu comes up.

That's definitely odd. Could you post some system specs, like your Graphics Card, RAM, and Operating System?

Vivid Conceptions is using a very unique lighting engine that is prone to weird behavior. Never quite heard of that one though!

Yes, I did know it was related to the lighting engine, seeming as when I said 'crash' above, I meant it showed about 50+ errors related to lighting that FORCED me to end the game.

Yeah, just use the core version (without the lighting engine) from the VC page.

Actually, as I said above, I just have to have the start menu up until the title screen comes up.

Yeah, it was the first game I've ever used an outside lighting source on. It was also the last.

Hah, I remember being halfway done with the game, only to find out that the lighting engine could only render about twenty levels before completely crashing. Hoo boy was that not a good day. Thankfully GearGOD pulled through and updated the engine, though it still has way too many quirks to be reliable. A shame too, since it looked stunning.

I concur. But it works fine on most computers.
I Hope someone writes a dll enabling memory clearing soon.
