Not sure why, but a simple farming sim game...

Farmville, and games like it, has exploded on Facebook recently, and a game like that would probably do with a 'vertigo touch'. I know its no strategy, but i'm sure you can survive :D

I have Harvest Moon for that, thank you. And I don't think even chubs would want to go through the trouble of coding everything a good farming sim would need, like variable growth times, weather, and annoying side quests that get you nothing more than a NPC running around your house.

But... But... I like NPCs running around my house...

In all seriousness, I don't think a farm sim would be ideal. But hey, if Chubs feels like taking it on one day, then sure, go ahead.

No "farm sim" games. No time management games. This is 2009, and those are the domain of shovelware companies, and you should not intrude on their domain, lest they be angered.

at risk of sounding like an idiot.....

You dont like that kind of game, because you are used to the norm of Vertigo Games... strategy and planning....
I was only suggesting the farming sim-type game because it obviously has a lot of followers, simply because it is an on-going game that is ever-expanding. There are only a certain type of gamers who like strategy (although in my opinion, they are the best :P), thus strategy games cannot reach that wide a range of players.
A new style of game, although you may not like it, WOULD bring many new faces to vertigo games, along with their ideas for improvement.

But on the same style of game (such as strategy), i would say something turn-based, with 2-4 players (AI included of course). Sort of on the idea of chinese checkers, where every player has a sort of 'starting' zone, where they are attempting to reach a goal on teh other side of the map, but the interactions on the map effect the other players.

Take the idea of checkers out of your head, and add basic Defense Game setup....
players send out attacks from their base on certain vectors. Certain attacks do damage along the path, over so many turns... some attacks simply send a troop out to the map that takes a certain ammt of time to get there, or you send workers out to build a defense tower... etc etc
Your goals can be to defeat the other opponents, or defend a building in teh center, along with your base.... but if one falls, you lose.

Almost like a crappy version of Age of Empires/Empire Earth, but it is more strategy because you can actually calculate how many turns something will take to get to a certain area, so you know what spell/troop to use at each turn. It could be related to a 'defend the castle' game.... but the fundamentals of the game are different.

THAT is my suggestion that semi-follows the whole strategy idea, without it being a single-player campaign...
I guess i'll just go back to my harvest moon game :P

*side note* i dont think that Chub's skills would be best used on a farm-sim... i only suggested it as a new idea to be brought into the mix.

I think I have to agree with minmay on this one. I've seen too many Cake Mania clones to realize that following the pack isn't the way to go. After all, Chubigans is more the guy to lead into uncharted territory.

Well, if he wants. But AFAIK, he's pretty good with that stuff from a design perspective. (I don't know about from a GM perspective, but its just a point and click system with interlocking variables.

On the other hand, you could try waiting for Stencyl. They finally released closed beta a while ago., and it shouldn't be too long before open beta begins.
