I have a desire to support DRM free gaming, but I too have limited gaming dollars. I have no doubt that The Oil Blue is worth the $15.00 asking price, but for me personally there are too many other things in life that call out for my money (e.g. bills, eating out, supporting causes, etc.).

In my case I have put off buying The Oil Blue because of its price point. I have resigned myself to waiting until it hits the $10.00 mark and then I will likely pick it up through GG, or directly here.

I know that may be some time off in the future, but $10.00 is my target window for the vast majority of games I buy.

All this is in no way saying games like The Oil Blue is not worth the money, because I think it is, and even more so due to the fact it is DRM free.

Anyway, that is where I stand at this stage. My hope is that The Oil Blue does exceptionally well and affords Vertigo Gaming the ability to make other games in the future.

EDIT: Wow, 30 days and not a single new post on the forums. Lowering the price may not be a bad idea at this stage.

Apologies in advance as sometimes I can be quite blunt.

I tried the demo, it was okay. It's a game that I would normally pick up if the price agreed with me. In this case $16.00 seems a tad overpriced for what the game contains (to me). I understand the pricing system of indie developers, often working in a niche market so they must charge more since their audience is smaller, so instead of a 50% drop in price and possibly (possibly) selling twice the games to make the same amount of money if they had only sold one copy they are priced higher.

Of course not all indies follow this type of pricing scheme, the Indie world is picking up steam very fast right now (personal belief is that Minecraft has helped this a great deal getting people to understand that there are more than the big 5 publishers in the world and that's a good thing), there are many games that have a limited audience that charge $5.99 to $19.99 of course. I've also seen indies that charge $39.99 for what to me is not even worth $19.99 and when questioned about their pricing they say the same thing that I wrote above about being a niche market so they must sell higher priced. I won't go into my thoughts on that since I'm not an economics major although I have been around this world long enough to form my own opinions.

Anyway, at the current price it was a no brainer to me that I would not be buying your title, however if the price were 45% less then it would have been a no brainer to me to BUY your title.

With that said, I've voted up your greenlight since you said if you get on steam you'll " permanently cut the price by ~45% to $6.95! " at which time I will willingly give you my money.

I wish you the best of luck on your greenlight and hope that you get it on there as I would like to play your game at a price that feels to me like I'm not getting taken to the barn.

Thanks City for the comments! You're right on the pricing as that was one thing that was holding a lot of people back, so I'm happy to say that my next game (Cook, Serve, Delicious!), which is even larger in scope than the Oil Blue and has a ton more content, will be released at $8.95.

I don't think I'll ever be at the $14.95 price point anymore; it's just too high. And if by the beginning of next year the Oil Blue doesn't make it on Steam (highly likely given the amount of games much more popular on Greenlight) I'll cut the price anyways. :)
