Let's recap on why I hate Vista, though this has been done to death already, really:
1. Performance. Okay, seriously, this is a major problem. Windows XP takes up only about 2% of my CPU when it's basically idle. The processor in my mother's laptop is 40% as powerful as the processor in my desktop, and her Vista installation takes up 20% of that processor when idle. That is a bad thing.
2. Compatibility. Seriously, you can't run GM6 games on it, you can't run some MMF games on it, about 30% of other applications that work fine on XP require serious configuration to run on Vista, and another 10% won't work at
all. THAT SUCKS. And don't say "Well, that's the software maker's fault" because it's just plain stupid for them to be expected to anticipate Microsoft's actions, and similarily stupid to expect them to update their software to work with every new operating system. Granted, XP has this problem when compared with 98 or 2000 (or ME

), but it's not nearly as ridiculous as in Vista.
3. Price. Oh! I can buy a slight security upgrade for $200! Even if it didn't have all its other problems, that would still be an utter rip-off! Seriously, it would be cheaper to get a terminal virus and replace my hard drive. Twice, even. Or I could buy antivirus software and have
actual security, which I'd need to do anyway.
I haven't heard altogether that much about Windows 7. If it fixes the aforementioned problems,
and it has actual advantages over XP, I'll buy it. Otherwise, screw Microsoft, because even when they stop supporting XP I doubt that very many other companies will.
