Original Post by Mercetron in the Game Maker Forums:

Here is a game I made using game maker 5 and 6 (I think I used the latter version since that is the one I've purchased and the other one is my friends')

I'm studying game design at a university in Sweden (University of Skövde) and this game was finished in about a week by my self. The course we had at the time was about making 5 games, alone, using a 'simplifying' tool in 6-8 weeks aproximately.

I must say I'm very satisfied with this game and what Game Maker can do. It's not just a 'drag n drop' tool for making template games, it's instead really what you want it to be. As I'm not a hardcore programmer and still like programming, GM is quite perfect for me. Ok, it has not much support for 3D, but 3D doesn't automatically stand for a good game - if you think it does then you'll probably make a sucky 3D game ;P

Please take time to read the information at the starting screen of the game. I know, it's horrible and full of text.. it truly is, but it explains the game play which otherwise might be a bit odd.

Additional note about the levels in the game:

    * Every two levels, starting at level 3, there will be one more spike ball.
    * On every level, there will be one more moving bubble. However, the totalt amount of bubbles on every level will still be the same.
    * Every 10th level is a "bonus level" located in a calm coral reef (green background) where all bubbles stand completely still.
    * After reaching level 7, a star bubble will appear from time to time...

Hm, anything else.. I don't know.. Yes! One thing, the game runs in 1280x1024 resolution. If, by some reason, your monitor can't handle that resolution, the game will behave really bad and become unplayable. Just a warning. At the moment, I have not enough time nor energy to change this. A rule of thumb - don't run it on a portable computer, as their monitors tend not to like the resolution the game works in. A relatively new computer doesn't hurt either as I'm puking out particles (all of which are objects... sucky choice, I know now).

NOTE: Vertigo Games did not help make this game in any way...full credit goes to the original author.
