It’s time for the first annual Vertigo Games contest, where you could easily win a free copy of ShellBlast for the PC. Whoa.

Way back in junior high, I started to make some games. Over a decade later, well, I’m still making games. A lot of people have come and gone over the last few years, but I’m still here, and still under the Vertigo Games name. The stakes, however, have changed.

After posting about the different lighting effects in Kablooey, I said that a nighttime mode was impossible. But, after posting that blog entry I thought…well, why not give it a try? Well, turns out I was kinda right.

Time for the third downloadable content pack for Spirits of Metropolis, called the Cubed Puzzle Pack. And once again it’s absolutely free for all Spirits of Metropolis owners!

When asked what was the most important factor in a game’s visual excellence, a Guerrilla dev (Killzone 2) said it was the lighting. Not the textures, or the geometry, or even the post processing, but the lighting.
